Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) was established by the Tamil Nadu government in 1989 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the first veterinary university in Asia. TANUVAS is an ICAR-approved state university that provides veterinary and animal science research and outreach programs. The university has been ranked the 151 st best college by NIRF Ranking 2023. The university offers UG, PG, and PhD programs in various fields, such as Dairy, Food, Poultry, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry. Admission to TANUVAS is based on the entrance examination conducted by the university. The university administers the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Exam (TANCET), which is used to choose candidates for postgraduate and doctoral programs. Final admission shall be done through counselling.
